Restaurant and business partners Brian Listerman and Timothy Wolfe knew they wanted to be a part of the steady growth in Ironton.

The two opened Patties & Pints in Portsmouth five years ago, and the restaurant in the Boneyfiddle District has performed well. It sits in the middle of the antique shops on Second Street and has become a highlight to the area.

Ironton is on the move upward and the duo, who also own Fred’s Restaurant in Wheelersburg, wanted to bring Patties & Pints into Lawrence County.

Listerman and Wolfe purchased the former End Zone Restaurant on 211 Adams Street in downtown Ironton early in 2022. Former owners Mr. and Mrs. Haynes talked with him and Wolfe about buying the location, and all felt it was a good fit. “They wanted to retire, and we wanted to expand,” Listerman said. “It was good timing for all of us.”

By the end of spring, Patties & Pints opened to the public and has been well received.  The restaurant offers gourmet burger options and specializes in craft beer. “We have 48 taps in Ironton and 95 percent of those are craft beer,” Listerman said. “We have an excellent menu.”

He added that he and Wolfe wanted to provide a family atmosphere with a quality food experience at the same time––and that Is what is being delivered.

Two of many great reviews give the establishment high marks. One said, “Patties & Pints is one of the best places in the area.” The review went on to state that the Portsmouth location was the all-time favorite, but they were happy an Ironton location was added. “The onion rings, fried mushrooms, and cheese curds are all great. I’ve tried every burger on the menu, they are all tops.”

Another review stated, “Patties & Pints have the best burgers ever. Great selection of beer and the service is impeccable.”

Listerman said the atmosphere is a roaring 20s theme and there are two Model T Ford automobiles inside the restaurant––one is mounted over the bar. “It’s just a really cool little place,” he said. “You can take your family and meet friends for a fun evening in a growing town.”

Patties & Pints joins other dining establishments in Ironton that include The Depot, Melini Cucina Italian Restaurant, The Armory Smokehouse, Frisch’s Big Boy, and Toro Loco to name a few.

“Ironton is growing leaps and bounds,” Listerman added. “There is a good partnership between the city and the county, and they are trying to renovate the entire downtown area. There are some big things planned down the road. The Riverfront re-development is in the works. There is a new sports complex coming and The Gateway Project with the hotels and restaurants is nice.  All I see in Ironton is upside. It’s a beautiful little town and it has made significant strides to improve and be attractive for people to spend time and money there.” Patties & Pints is a welcome addition to Ironton and folks from the Tri-State agree.

A first timer in Ironton loved the restaurant and the experience in the city and left another glowing review.

“The fried mushrooms were the best we have had anywhere, and we really liked the traditional wings tossed in the carolina mustard sauce and the cauliflower crust pizza. We’ll definitely be back the next time we want pizza and wings,” the review stated.

“We believe we have a nice place where people can come for a nice meal and a fun experience,” Listerman said. “We are glad to be in Ironton, and we know we have something unique to offer the people who come in.”
