A Letter from Braidy Industries Chairman and CEO Craig Bouchard

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m often asked, “Why did you choose Ashland, Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky as the home for Braidy Industries?” From a “business” perspective, my answer could be complex; dealing with logistics, incentives, energy costs, and location of customers, suppliers, and complimentary services. In truth, however; our choice was not complex – it was simple. We chose the town and its surrounding counties that gave us the warmest welcome. We searched for the most talented and dedicated work force – and we found it here, surrounded by 10,000 loyal and committed families. We wanted an isolated outpost in this troubled age, an oasis where the politicians of both parties still dig in to help each other and all citizens. We searched for the kids with the highest potential, many of whom will one day become our executives. After one year in our Appalachian home, we already know we chose wisely.

Having been fortunate, (or lucky) to build a few big companies during the past decade, I listened and learned from the many talented people around me. I discovered that a company is only as healthy as the community in which it sits. Therefore, we bear a sincere responsibility in joining the rich culture that surrounds us. Churches, teachers and school administrators, charities, health organizations, restaurants, builders, entrepreneurs, small business owners and employees of all kinds make or break our collective future prospects. Clearly, we are one family. We are joined in our fates, walking the road of success together. This is what I’ve learned.

I’m an objectivist, believing in an honest day’s work for the highest possible return as the goal for all. We need business leaders and a government that share one view. Let’s believe in God, and invest in our kids. If we all do this, our community will solve its problems and prosper beyond our wildest expectations.

Sincerely,
Craig Bouchard
