Ashland Build A Bed, a Kentucky Credit Union League (KYCUL) Ashland Chapter project, was recently awarded $25,000 as part of a crowd-sourced philanthropic campaign from State Farm.
Ashland Build A Bed is a cooperative project between local credit unions and community partners that builds and distributes twin beds to children in the FIVCO area. Ashland Build-A-Bed Project has provided more than 270 beds to children in Eastern Kentucky since 2018.
“Ashland Build A Bed is unique in that it is filling a need where there is not a lot of light shined on.  We know that children across the nation have the same problem we see and that’s kids sleeping on the floor,” said Co-Director Tiffany Black. “We’re not going to let that happen here in our community.”
Ashland Build A Bed was one of the Top 40 causes in State Farm Neighborhood Assist Program, which empowers communities to identify issues in their neighborhoods and vote online for their favorite causes. More than 4.4 million votes were cast. The grant will fund 100 beds.
